Water Features

Water features have an incredible impact on the aesthetic of your garden, but they can also create a very relaxed and therapeutic ambiance. Adding a small fountain, or other water feature, can enhance any space, from a compact, low-maintenance yard to a sprawling back garden, there are many options available. Channel the opulence of country estates with ornamental statues, add a rustic touch with a traditional duck pond or go for something more modern and minimalist like a stainless steel sphere.

Have a look around garden centers, browse online galleries, and flick through magazines to get ideas. If you plan to add a pond, it’s a good idea to use the Internet to find out more about water pumps, and general upkeep and maintenance. Take great care when adding water features to gardens that may be used by children. If you have small children or grandchildren that like to visit, an added measure of security would be fence off the area.

Pergolas, Gazebos, and Garden Sheds

Are you keen to make your garden a little more interesting to look at or more versatile? If so, external structures can offer both style and substance. Pergolas look beautiful when adorned with flowers and climbing plants, and they also provide a bit of shelter during bad weather.  Gazebos and summerhouses enable you to use your yard all year-round, as well as offering an attractive focal point. Garden sheds can even be turned into mini-craft rooms or a personalized “she shed.”

Planters

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to be a green-fingered guru to create a stunning garden. If you don’t have flower beds, or you’re not confident when it comes to sowing seeds or planting bulbs, garden planters are an excellent investment. You can choose from crates, boxes, buckets, tubs or even quirky items like wheelbarrows, baskets, or watering cans to display flowers and plants and add color and vibrancy to your outdoor area.

Garden Seating

Many of us enjoy spending time in the garden, and there’s nothing more relaxing than kicking back with a good book or a refreshing drink at the end of a busy day. If your garden furniture has seen better days, or you’re relegated to the lawn every time you fancy chilling out in the backyard, why not treat yourself to some new seating? Go for a chic sofa set for a modern yard, a retro picnic bench for a more traditional look or some oversized bean bag chairs and hammocks for a tranquil outdoor oasis. Adding some outdoor lighting will finish the look.
