Fashion is a very broad area, and it can be difficult to find our own place in it. Sometimes you may feel as though you want to express yourself in a new and exciting way. There are many ways that you can stand out from the crowd, pin your colors to the mast, and let the world know who you really are.
Here are two of the most popular ways of adding a bit of personality to your look: body piercings and tattoos.
Body Piercing
There are many places where you get your ears pierced. While having your ears or nose pierced are very common, many people favor lip and other body piercings too. Learn more here about the different types of piercing that you can have done, and the types of rings and plugs that are available.
Make sure you check out the credentials of the piercer that you are interested in using. They should have adequate hygiene records and a very clean area in which they carry out the piercing. Make sure that you feel comfortable with them as you are putting a lot of trust in them. If you don’t feel good about going with that particular body modification artist, shop around until you find one that meets your needs.
Make sure and pay attention to any care advice that you get given. If this is not mentioned to you, ask questions of the piercer. Infections can be painful and can leave you feeling very ill so every step should be taken to avoid this from happening.
Getting A Tattoo
Getting a tattoo is a massive commitment, you will wear it for life. It is important that you do your research first. Find a reputable tattooist with an excellent record for hygiene as well as an amazing technical ability and style. Don’t be fooled by prices, if a tattooist is offering cheap tattoos, you may find that they are rush jobs, and as such will be substandard work. These may end up having wonky lines, blotchy ink, or fading in places after a very short amount of time. You may find that you are disappointed, and although it was inexpensive, a poorly executed tattoo is not the best way to express your alternative style.
Instead, shop around. Look at the artists Instagram page. If they do a large amount of quality bespoke work, they may be worth looking into. Get them to draw up some concepts for the tattoo you are interested in and make sure you are happy with the visuals before they start. It is important that you don’t accept anything that you don’t want.
You will need to take care of your tattoo, particularly in the first couple of weeks after you get it. It is natural that you will have some blood and a bit of loose ink for a few hours after getting the tattoo finished. You will need to keep it clean, and your tattooist should be able to give your advice on how long to keep it covered for and if you will need to apply any cream or ointment to it.
How do you express your own unique, personal and alternative style?
