You’re single, New Year’s Eve is just around the corner and you’re looking for a date. If that sounds like you then read on to learn all you need to know about finding someone new just in time for the New Year.
10 Fun Activities for New Year’s Eve
If you’re single and headed into the new year on your own, you’re probably looking for help and suggestions on what to do to increase your chances of meeting Mr. or Mr. Right, or Mr. and Mrs. Right if you’re into that kind of thing.
Here’s our top list of fun activities to do on New Year’s Eve that will increase a single person’s odds of meeting someone FUN on that night.
- Daytime fun. Get active during the day. You might not be a morning person but taking a spin class at the gym or joining the local running club for a New Year’s 5k charity walk just might be a good place to meet a fit and single Mr. Right.
- Try a new place. Many restaurants and bars plan an all-inclusive New Year’s party that includes cover charge, food, drinks and appetizers. It might be a bit more money than you normally spend but think of it like being a land-locked Love Boat – everyone’s spent a hefty fee to get in and will be spending the night in one location giving you plenty of time to check out the eye candy.
- Try a new look. If you normally head out to the clubs dressed in black, try to be a bit more daring. Become that fun party girl you’ve seen at other clubs – dress up in a silver sequined dress with 3” pumps and wear that shade of bright red lipstick you’ve always been afraid of. While you can’t change your personality overnight, a little editing can help you send out a more positive and less somber vibe that just might attract the attention of that cute guy across the dance floor.
- Throw a party. Invite your single friends and ask each guest to bring at least one single friend. The more the merrier and lots of hook up opps as everyone is SINGLE.
- Dating sites. You can upload your best selfie and join an adult dating site like No Strings Attached. Online dating is a great way to meet someone in a stress-free, no obligation environment. After meeting virtually, if the chemistry is right, pick a place to meet in person and party the night away.
- Staycation. Spend a night or the entire weekend, if New Year’s Eve falls on a Friday or Saturday, in a local hotel for a great staycation. Many hotels have New Year’s specials that include room, meals and a PARTY!
- Leave town. Book a plane, train or bus ticket and spend the holiday without of town family. You never know – they might be having a huge party and inviting all their single friends that you’ve never met. Lots of ops to make new friends.
- Modern blind date. Ask your friends to set you up with one of their single friends. While blind dates usually have a bad rap, meeting a friend of a friend is usually cool. You might want to meet them for coffee early in the day before committing the entire night at a New Year’s party, just in case they turn out to be a total troglodyte.
- Just say yes. Attend every party, event, luncheon and coffee talk you’re invited to. Now is not the time of year to be shy. Say yes to that tea party that sounded lame on Wednesday – the owner, server, or host just may be single and like you, looking for love.
- Social media. Reach out to your social network and see who’s looking for a date. You can’t be the only single person out there looking to have a fun time on New Year’s Eve.
Be the Life of the New Year’s Eve Party
If your friends have dragged you to a New Year’s Eve party and you don’t really know anyone besides your friends, don’t just stand there like a lump on a log! Stop being “that girl” at the party – go up to that cute guy and say hello! What do you have to lose?
Here are a few questions you can ask Prince Charming to help get the conversation started::
- What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
- What’s the best gift you ever gave someone?
- How did you spend Christmas?
- Did you go to any interesting holiday parties?
- Do you want to dance?
- Do you want to make out?
That last one may be a bit of a stretch but you never know. It’s New Year’s Eve, everyone’s looking to have a good time, and when the countdown to midnight is over – grab him and give him a big smooch to welcome in the New Year!
A Final Thought on Finding Mr. Right
Only you know how far to take a potential relationship on New Years Eve. If you’re currently in a relationship, but feeling a bit stuck, there are online dating sites that let you discreetly look for someone new. If you’re in an open relationship, where you’ve both agreed that it’s okay to have partners outside of the relationship, then the possibility of a New Year’s Eve marital affair isn’t taboo.
Stay positive, keep an open mind and you just may find yourself meeting someone special just in time for the new year!
