Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter - unsalted
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper - optional
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 pound whole pecans - shells removed

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Place the pecans in a large mixing bowl. I like to use pre-shelled pecans for convenience but you can buy a bag of pecans in the shell and use a nutcracker to remove them from the shell.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper (if using), and salt.
  • In a small saucepan or frying pan, melt the butter over low heat then whisk in the Worcestershire sauce and dry spice mixture.

  • Pour the melted butter mixture over the bowl of pecans and use a large mixing spoon until the nuts are evenly coated.
  • Spread the pecans onto a large baking pan.
  • Place the pecans in the oven and let toast for 10 minutes.
  • Remove the pan from the oven, stir the pecans, return to the oven and let toast for another 10 minutes.
  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven and pour the toasted spiced pecans into a large stainless steel, or other heatproof bowl, until cooled to room temperature.
  • Place a portion of the toasted spice pecans into a decorative dish and serve as a tasty snack at your next Super Bowl party, backyard BBQ, or dinner party.

Notes

Toasted Spiced Pecans Recipe Tips and Suggestions
1. For a spicier toasted nut, add a bit more cayenne pepper to the recipe or leave it out if you want a milder tasting toasted pecan.
2. Other spices, such as ground cumin, coriander, paprika, or chili powder, may be added to the toasted spiced pecans recipe if desired.
3. For a saltier nut, toss the pecans with a teaspoon or two of coarse sea salt, after they are removed from the oven.
