Free Admission Tickets via Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day

Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day

EXTRA – EXTRA -READ – ALL – ABOUT – IT!

Saturday September 22, 2018 is the 14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day. Admission to your favorite (participating) museum is FREE on this day! There are about 1,400 participating museums – that should give you a lot to choose from.

You are allowed to print out one ticket per email, and each ticket gives you free entry to you and your guest to the museum of your choice. To learn more, and choose your ticket, visit: Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day.

Fairchild Tropical Garden

Free Museum Admission

I printed out a ticket for Fairchild Tropical Garden in Coral Gables, Florida. Fairchild is about 70 miles from my home in Boynton Beach which, with traffic, is about an hour and a half drive each way. Top that with the fact that Fairchild Admission is normally ($25) per person, this makes for an expensive day out (gas, food, drink, admission, time away from my regular freelance work).

But they had me at FREE admission. You can pick one museum to go to for free on Museum Day. The ticket gives you, and one guest, free admission to the participating museum of your choice. There was a bit of fine print that says there could be limited space at each museum. Not sure what that means, other than maybe certain museums don’t want to let everyone in for free. I’d really hate to drive all the way down to Coral Gables and then find out they won’t honor my free ticket. That would really suck as it’s about a 3 hour round trip drive.
