There is often a great deal of stress that comes with either being newly disabled or living with a long-term disability. Some of the things you might have to deal with include finding the right attorney for your needs, getting the best insurance, and making sure you are correctly claiming any benefits you are entitled to. A great way to relax and unwind at the end of a long day is some great craft ideas so you can work on your favorite hobby.

Stress has a significant impact on how we think and how we feel. To make sure that you are managing that, you can do some simple things to minimize it. Taking care of yourself mentally is really important no matter who you are and what you do. So, here are some suggestions of great craft ideas that you can work on after a stressful day spent at home or at work.

Beading

You can create countless beautiful items with a few simple bead and jewelry supplies. You can create one-of-a-kind necklaces, bracelets, earrings or you can even start adding beadwork to shoes, jackets and other clothing items. Beadwork can be as simple or as intricate as you like.

It does take a bit of time and patience to get something just right, but the results are always worth it when you end up with your own unique piece of wearable art. Beadwork can also sell for a reasonable amount of money if that is something that you are interested in.

Floristry

You could opt to work with faux flowers, or you can choose to work with fresh ones. The perk, of course, with faux is that they will last a lot longer. You can also lightly scent faux flowers, with a bit of perfume or scented oil, before they are given to the intended recipient. You will probably want to watch a couple of Youtube tutorials or sign up for a local floral arrangement class where you can learn all the basics.

Journaling

The last few years more and more people are journaling, and there are so many different elements and designs you can use to make your own unique diary or art journal. You can use photos, receipts, travel images, glitter, washi tape and all sorts of other fun things. There are some great blogs and Youtube videos you can research to get tons of inspiration to get you started.

Start Meditating

There are a whole host of health, fitness and mindfulness apps that you can download on your mobile phone to help with relaxation and meditation. Learning to calm your mind in a matter of minutes is excellent for managing stressful situations and minimizing your overall stress levels. Calm and Headspace are both excellent apps with a lot of features to help you out. They both have free and paid for options.

Painting

Painting is a great hobby. If you have watched Bob Ross for an episode or two, you’ll know how relaxing painting can be. And, you could choose to paint alongside him and create a masterpiece. Or, you might decide to do glass painting, pottery painting or maybe even little model bikes or cars.

Papier-mâché

Papier-mâché can produce some exciting results. Masks, globes, even vases, and pen pots can be covered with papier-mâché. This can be done over the space of a few days or weeks if they are very intricate, great for people who are looking for a bit of a longer-term project.
