The typical routes of investing in property will be that you go with stocks, you go with bonds or you take the first leap into real estate. These all seem like the prudent routes to take as they offer you the ability to make discernible profit with few risks. If you pick a great stock such as Sony or Samsung, you’re bound to get your money’s worth and then some.

But what about investing in pastimes and your favorite hobbies ? These are things that we all thought would go away but modern times and appetites have shown us that even old dogs can live in a new world. What’s also great is that the so-called pastimes that live on today, shouldn’t even be referred to as pastimes as they are thriving in current times. But what are your investment options?

Investing in Horse Racing

Thanks to social media, various sports have been given a new lease of life when it comes to general public interest. Boxing for one is no longer a niche sport, as many people all around the world can watch the latest fights via live streaming TV or view highlights on platforms such as Twitter. Another sport that has lately become even more popular than before is horse racing.

One of the people that believes in the future of horse racing is Belinda Stronach who is pouring money into new race courses and making it a much more televised event. Coming from a billionaire family, such figures in the horse racing world make it a viable choice to invest your money in by continuing to develop the sport into the modern age. Things like online horse racing betting, 4G betting on smartphones and tablets is becoming more and more popular. This means more money is heading into the sport of horse racing.

Investing in Classic Cars

You might think that an old car looks out of place on the streets today, and you’d be right. They do look out of place which is why they are usually kept indoors by collectors except to showcase during classic car shows. Vintage cars are some of the most amazing investment opportunities in the world. It’s not common for cars that are just over 50 years old to be valued at many millions.

Take for example the amazing Ford GT40, which won LeMans and beat Ferrari. The street versions of these classic muscle cars have fetched over $10 million quite happily at auction houses. The Ferrari GTO has also acclaimed similar numbers. Both of these cars are just 60 or so years old but they are classic cars which are adored by wealthy collectors. If you can find a vintage car that the owner is looking to restore, you should investigate this as a possible investment opportunity. This pastime is niche but it’s an incredibly popular hobby for the car community worldwide.

Investing in pastimes and hobbies that you love and you will find that things that could be deemed ‘old fashioned’ soon turn into an incredible opportunity to gain a rather large profit. Do a bit of research on other popular niches, such as real estate, that could turn into a great opportunity to invest your money.
