Over 60s Dating Tips for the New Year

I can’t believe we’re almost at the end of the first month of the New Year! Did you make any new year’s resolutions for 2020? Ever since my divorce, I’ve been looking for Mr. Right – Hello, is there anybody out there? Unfortunately, I seem to attract more than my fair share of lemons, but that’s a story for another time.

Just before Thanksgiving 2020 I’ll be ringing in 57 years on this planet. Dating as a, AHEM, mature adult is not without its challenges. I’m way beyond the let’s hang out in clubs all night phase – why heck, I’m usually in bed by 10 PM on most nights. Yup, I’ve turned into a regular party animal in my old age – NOT!

Actually, I don’t think of myself as an old lady, on most days I still think of myself as a young kid. And is the mid 50s really that old anymore – kind of feels like middle age to me. But where the heck do silver foxes like myself and my single friends go to find, meet, and date people with similar interests?

Online Dating Sites for Older Singles

Whenever I’m searching the net or checking out my latest messages on social media, I see a sh#t TON of ads for online dating sites. Most of these dating sites seem geared to the younger 20s and 30s crowd or they are focused on a particular group such as active singles, religious singles or country singles. But, where should you look for Mr. or Mrs. Right if you’re in your 50s, 60s or beyond?

If you are looking for over 60s dating sites then there are a lot of great options out there. You can always ask your friends if they know of any older single guys (or gals) looking for a date, but that can get a bit awkward. Blind dates and all of the horrors that go along with that, oh the stories I could tell – again better left for a future blog post.

Virtual Dating is Key

Personally, I like the idea of getting to meet someone online first. You can scan profiles, look for someone with similar interests and then start the relationship virtually online with some chats, texting or instant messaging. If everything seems to click, and you don’t suspect they’re a serial killer, then you can exchange phone numbers. After one or more in-depth cellphone conversations, you can each make the decision if you want to take the next steps. Hopefully you’ll meet Prince or Princess Charming and arrange to meet him or her in person!

Online dating sites, such as silver-dating.com are a great way to meet potential mates and dates. You simply upload your best selfies and setup your online profile and wait for someone to contact you or you can contact them. This remote, virtual dating environment is a great way to meet someone in a stress-free, no obligation environment. It’s up to you and your virtual date to decide if you want to meet in person and go on your first date.
