One of the most popular and growing interior trends for 2018 was definitely rustic home decor.

Whether it was increasing the amount of wood in your home, bringing the outdoors in or accessorizing with some incredible themed decorations – everyone has been loving that stunning rustic look.

With that in mind, here are 7 ways you can give your home that incredible rustic feel, no matter what budget you have:

1. Bring The Outside In

Whilst this may sound impractical, there are lots of different ways to bring the outside in that are simple and effective. Whether you create stunning artwork from tree bark, collect sand or stones from the different beaches you visit or you create a more abstract look using large pieces of driftwood – you can have an incredibly unique look that costs next to nothing.

If you don’t want to craft and create your own unique pieces using materials found outdoors, you can always go to a craft artist and ask them to create a custom rustic home decor piece for you.

2. Upgrade to Wood Floors

If you have a new home the chances are you won’t have solid wood flooring throughout your house. Don’t worry, this is incredibly easy to change if you have the time and the money. For more information about creating a rustic look with wooden flooring, you can visit the Manomin Resawn Timbers website.

3. Install A Real Fireplace

Unless you live in an older house, you probably won’t have a real fireplace installed in your home. While an electric fireplace is a lot easier to use, nothing can beat the feeling of adding logs to your real fireplace, especially as the colder weather draws in.

4. Add Rustic Accessories

If you’re looking to add a rustic feel to your home but you don’t have a large budget or disposable income, why not purchase woodland themed accessories to help furnish your house? There are lots of stunning accessories you can decorate your home with including tables made from tree stumps, gorgeous canvas art and even mirrors and photo frames made with bark and pebbles. For inspiration, you can visit Pinterest or Instagram.

5. Woodland Themed Wallpapers

Although plain wallpapers may make it easier to redecorate, having a unique woodland themed wallpaper could really help add a little bit of character to your home.

6. Add More Plants

A great way to add a more rustic feel to your home is to add more plants to your most used rooms, such as your living room or kitchen. Not only are plants known to improve your mood, but they really can bring your home to live.

7. Upcycle Your Furniture

If you can’t afford new furniture but want to create a more rustic feel, there’s always the option to upcycle your existing furniture. Often you can create an old-timey look by using products that distress the wood, helping make your furniture look completely different in a matter of hours.
