Suggestions for Decorating and Renovating Your Home

Changes to the home can be enough to curb any desire to move elsewhere by making your current property feel and look brand new. This post is going to look at some of the ways you can alter or renovate sections of your house so that it continues to feel like your home, but with an updated twist.

There are two types of property work that we are going to look at here; one has to do with its aesthetics and the other is taking on some larger projects to change its overall look.

Decorating

A logical place to start any conversation about home improvement is decorating. It is something you can do with a few paintbrushes and your chosen colors, or you can go bigger and tear up the floor, kitchen, bathroom, etc. But for the purposes of what we are looking at we will stick with painting.

The reason we are looking at painting when it comes to decorating is because there are so many different directions you can go in. One of those is to focus on how the colors and decoration of your rooms has an impact on your  mood. There have been several studies which can clearly demonstrate that the colors we surround ourselves with have an impact on our state of mind.

Depending on what you are looking to achieve you will want to look at the full spectrum of colors and how they are affect you. Color therapy is a very real thing and should be a driving factor in your decorating plans.

There are a few colors that we are going to take a closer look at. First of all orange is seen as a color that boosts confidence and can act as an antidepressant. This is the first example of how a color can impact your mind. Yellow is also seen to be a confidence booster and comes with other well being benefis such as improving positivity and happiness.

You may find it hard to believe that colors change your mindset, but give it a go and you’ll soon find out what tones are best for you. Light blues for example are perfect for creating a soothing, calming spa like environment in the bathroom.

Building & Replacements

Bigger projects for your home can take a lot more work but provide greater results. If you are lacking space you should consider getting an extension either on top, underneath or on the side. Roof extensions are possibly the most popular of the different types of building work that you can get done to increase your space. But extensions are not the only form of work to your property that you can do to make improvements.

Small changes like replacing doors or introducing an overhead garage door can give your house something of a facelift without needing to spend the big bucks. New windows can also have this effect, but all of these options also serve another purpose. Aesthetics are good reasons to make changes to your home, but if they can be practical as well that will be an even smarter way to spend your money.
