Sourcing Home Improvement and DIY Supplies

During these trying times, while trying to maintain social distancing guidelines, many people have taken a step back to work on projects inside their house and outside around their yards.

Quality Timber Keeps Your Home Limber

Unless you live on 10+ acres of heavily wooded land, you probably have to run to the local home improvement or lumber supply store to buy wood and other supplies for the various projects on your Honey-Do-List.

Finding a reliable supply of Timber, can be a challenge unless you are related to someone that owns their own hardware store. Sourcing your own home remodeling materials can be a handy way to save a bit of money while keeping your DIY budget on track.

By spending a bit of time researching and tracking down the best quality and best priced materials ahead of time, you  can save money in the long run. Make a list of potential supplies you will need for each project and start hunting for the best deals online and around town.

Going Out of Business Sale

Back when I was living in S. Florida, a national home improvement center decided to close their smaller brand of boutique hardware stores. It was a sad day at first as I really enjoyed shopping in that smaller store atmosphere compared to their crowded, big box retail stores.

But, I started stopping by the going out of business sale every few days to see what else had gone on sale or had been marked down lower. I brought a friend of mine along and he scored some really great deals for various projects he was working on around his home.

He bought a bunch of garden hoses (he’s on 1 ¼ acres and never seems to have enough garden hoses to reach all his plants) along with a bargain basement price faucet for a future bathroom remodel and new outdoor lighting fixtures for his front porch. While the bathroom re-do wasn’t on his immediate list of home improvements projects, he knew the deals were too good to pass up.
