Are you looking to Meet Surrey Singles but are worried about what to do on that important first date after? Animal-loving couples are needed to volunteer their time helping rescue animals.

Volunteering at an animal care facility can be a fulfilling and rewarding experience for yourself, your companion, and the dogs, cats, and other animals being cared for. A few ideas for helping out your local animal shelter include walking dogs, fostering a kitten, or sharing photos of adoptable pets on your social media sites.

Volunteer at Your Local Animal Shelter

Once the lockdown and social distancing end it’s time to get back to normal and enjoy some in-person activities. If you met a new friend or two after joining dating sites uk it’s time to plan your first date, or at least your first non-virtual date.

Most animal shelters are overcrowded and underfunded leaving their employees overworked and stressed out. Reach out to your local animal shelter to volunteer your time. Depending on your skill set, you and your significant other could either work a shift or partial shift answering phones on the weekend, running their social media pages, updating their website, or volunteering as an animal foster parent.

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, Tri-County Animal Rescue, and Big Dog Ranch Rescue, BDRR, are just a few of the pet adoption animal care facilities near me. BDRR is my favorite, I live in a rural, remote area of Palm Beach County but they are only a few miles from my house. They also claim to be the largest, cage-free, no-kill dog rescue in the United States – that’s pretty amazing!

Who Let the Dogs Out – You, You, You, You, You

Apologies for my H2 heading shown above referencing that once famous, overplayed 1992 song by Baha Men. I couldn’t resist – back in the day anytime you turned on the radio you were almost hit over the head with the continual replaying of Who Let the Dogs Out – ha – ha!

You and your BFF can volunteer to play with and walk dogs at your local shelter to help them socialize and increase their chances of getting adopted. One of the animal care facilities near me just relocated to a huge 33-acre remote property and they are always looking for people to hang out with the doggos, play with them, and give them a chance to run, walk, stroll in the fresh air. This is a much welcome change from being cooped up in their kennels.

Administration, Education, and Fund-raising Opportunities

Animal care is a 24/7 commitment but I recommend calling your shelter ahead of time to see what the protocol is for new volunteers. A few questions to ask include are they only open to the public on certain days/hours, or do they have restricted open by appointment hours due to COVID-19? Also ask if volunteers are required to fill out an application, attend an online orientation class, or in-person open house before they can start working at the shelter.

And if you are allergic to pets, don’t despair, you don’t have to go to the shelter to help them out. There are many no-contact administrative, educational, and fund-raising volunteer opportunities to choose from. Updating the shelter’s website, making calls to businesses to solicit donations of much-needed pet food and supplies, coordinating volunteers, or managing their social media pages are just a few volunteer ops that don’t require direct interaction with any of the animals.

Most animal shelters require their volunteers to make a certain time commitment, say at least one half-shift per week, for a minimum of 3 months. While there isn’t a formal dress code, most facilities will require you to wear a name tag and/or official shelter t-shirt to signify to the public you are a volunteer.
